The Spice Tin is the DREAM that began with a visit to a spice store in Chicago years ago. At that time both Patty and Jan were teaching (Jan at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp and Patty at Avery Middle School). As retirement began to become a reality, Patty pursued that dream, researching and learning about owning a business and fine-tuning what the dream would look like. The goal was to create a community of people who share the love of food, creating in the kitchen and travel. As Jan likes to say, “The Spice Tin is about food, fun and friends.”

Cute little shop! Great to be able to smell everything before buying! We bought kaffir lime leaves, ras el hanout, harissa, and Garam masala. Yum!!!
This place is absolutely wonderful! The people who work here are very friendly and want you to taste everything that you can! They have every spice you can think of, plus barbecue rubs, hot sauces, infused sugars and salts, and a heavenly bacon marmalade. Needless to say, everyone that walked in, left with something!
Small hole-in-the-wall kind of place. I was hesitant to go in at first, bit glad I did! Nice, Friendly owner. Tons of variety of spices, even the hot stuff like ghost chilies and scorpion peppers. You can even sample the spices before you buy. Pesto is awesome, as is the scorpion venom spice!
This place has a large variety of spices and spice blends, as the name implies. We've become regulars here ever since we decided to give them a try (they came highly recommended to us by friends/family). We first fell in love with the Calaveras Chicken rub, but we've branched out a bit and have yet to find something we don't like. The staff is extremely helpful and welcoming too. It's an overall great experience.
I would very much recommend poking your head in when you're passing by.
